Veterans Day, November 11
During the calendar year we have two holidays dedicated to those who have served to protect our freedom. One is Memorial Day when we honor those who have fallen. The other is Veteran’s Day, when we honor those who have served. We know that the holiday coming up is for those still living but we were so moved by the display created at the Bell Avenue home of Dave and Linda Brown that we felt it was appropriate for this Veteran’s Day.
The August 26th suicide bombing at the Kabul Airport as the United States completed their massive evacuation of troops and civilians from Afghanistan resulted in the loss of thirteen of our service men and women. Eleven were Marines, one Navy and one Army. There is one cross for each of the fallen: Pichardo, Gee, Hoover, Lopez, Page, Sanchez, Espinoza, Schmitz, McCollum, Merola, Nikoui, Soviak, Knauss.
