The Lake Gives Back

Two of our lake residents are giving of their time in public service.

Shirley Adams is donating her time and talents to help elect Jeff Siegel as the next Elkhart County Sheriff.  Shirley is a busy woman at her company but felt moved to work for Jeff out of a duty to find the best person for this important job.

Shirley Adams and Jeff SiegelI asked Shirley what she saw in her candidate that led her to give of her time.  He has served our county for nearly 30 years. He serves as President of the Elkhart County Drug Free Partnership.  He is intelligent, humble, funny, has a sense of humor and people gravitate to him. He recently joined others in the Leprechaun Leap at Re-Pete’s Tavern. He made me laugh when he said he was ready for the freezing water but not prepared to be stuck up to his waist in muck.  He respects his fellow officers and in return is respected by them. Jeff is a family man. “As his friend I feel our Lake and our County will be in good hands.  Get to know him like I do, go to siegelforsheriff.com.”

Thanks, Shirley for being a role model for us by getting out there.

Mark EisenweinMark Esenwein a long-time resident of the lake is running for the District 1 spot on the Elkhart County Council.  The office has been held for some time by lake resident, Dave Foutz.  Dave decided not to run for re-election.  Mark, a former Wakarusa Fire Chief, had just retired from his position as Associate Director of Finance and Administration at the University of Notre Dame.  He had served on the Wakarusa Town Council for 19 years, before he and his wife Patti moved to the lake.  Now, in retirement he felt that he had the time to return to public service.  When asked, Mark said, “I was raised with values of hard work and service and feel that I can give back in service to my community.”

We commend Mark for taking on this challenge.
