Flag Burning Ceremony Continues

Dwight passed away on Oct. 23, 2021, but he will be remembered this year as Bob and Georgia continue to honor our flag on July 4th.  Details will follow in our spring issue, via our Lake Alerts and on our Facebook page.

What does it mean to retire a flag?
When an American flag is worn beyond repair so that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display it should be destroyed in a dignified way.

Who is authorized to retire a U.S. Flag?
The U.S. Flag Code says, “The flag should be destroyed in a dignified way preferably by burning.  The ceremony should be solemn and dignified.”

How can I get my old worn flag to Bob and Georgia for the ceremony?
